Plastic Surgery Practice Valuation: How Buyers Price Surgical Practices
The biggest risk a buyer sees in a plastic surgery practice is the surgeon's name on the door. Here is how that shapes the price.
Short answer
Single-surgeon plastic surgery practices are usually priced on seller's discretionary earnings (SDE); multi-surgeon groups on adjusted EBITDA. One broker's 2026 guide reports single-surgeon cosmetic practices at about 2.5x to 4x SDE and regional groups at about 4x to 6x EBITDA. The more the practice depends on the founding surgeon's reputation, the bigger the discount.

Why surgeon dependence dominates the price
Patients choose a plastic surgeon by name, reviews and before-and-after photos. That loyalty is valuable to you and a risk to a buyer, because it may not transfer. CT Acquisitions' 2026 guide calls founder-surgeon brand dependency "the single biggest risk" in these deals.
Buyers manage that risk in two ways: they pay less, or they pay more but tie part of the price to you staying on and the practice hitting targets.
Published ranges by practice type
CT Acquisitions, a broker, reports the following in its June 2026 guide:
| Practice profile | Reported range |
|---|---|
| Single-surgeon cosmetic practice | 2.5x to 4x SDE |
| Multi-surgeon practice | 3.5x to 5x |
| Small regional groups | 4x to 6x EBITDA |
| Mid-size groups with non-surgical services | 5x to 8x EBITDA |
| Premium platforms, $15M+ EBITDA | 7x to 10x+ EBITDA |
These are one broker's observations. Your range depends on the factors below.
What raises a plastic surgery practice's value
Associate surgeons and other providers
An associate surgeon, nurse injectors and aestheticians who stay create revenue that does not depend on you. Adding an associate a year or more before a sale is often the most valuable step a solo surgeon can take.
Case volume, mix and conversion
Steady volume across breast, body and face procedures, and a strong consultation-to-surgery conversion rate, show demand that a buyer can count on.
An accredited in-office surgical suite
Your own accredited suite adds earnings and control over scheduling and costs. Buyers will review its accreditation, equipment and lease.
Cash-pay share
CT Acquisitions reports a premium for practices with cosmetic cash-pay revenue above about 70%, since it avoids insurance rate risk.
Marketing that belongs to the practice
Reviews, a website, social channels and referral sources that bring patients to the practice, not only to you, make revenue more transferable.
How the deal is usually structured
Because of surgeon dependence, platform buyers often pay part of the price at closing, part in rollover equity, and part as an earnout tied to future results, with an employment agreement for several years. A physician buyer may pay less in total but ask for a shorter transition. Read more about rollover equity and earnouts.

How much is a plastic surgery practice worth?
It depends on earnings and how much the practice depends on you. A 2026 broker guide reports single-surgeon cosmetic practices at about 2.5x to 4x SDE, with groups higher. A free valuation gives you a range for yours.
Does an in-office surgical suite add value?
Usually yes, if it is accredited and profitable, because it adds earnings and control over scheduling and costs.
How long will I have to stay after selling my plastic surgery practice?
Platform buyers often ask the founding surgeon to stay for several years and tie part of the price to performance. A surgeon buying the practice may only need a transition period.
